Jessie I Snyder, has a very unique gift of writing; while most writers can only write in one or two different genres or niches, Jessie has been blessed with the gift to write in any genre or niche with percision and grace.

Poetry

I began by writing poetry. I have won three awards and had my poetry published in my college's literary magazine. This poem won me the International Who's Who in Poetry of 2012:

Do No Judge Me

Do not judge me by the color of my skin.

Do not judge me by where I have been.

Do not judge me because I will not give in—to the way of the world or the temptation of sin.

Do not judge me by my occupation.

Do not judge me by my reputation.

Do not judge me by my successes.

If you feel you need to judge me…

Judge me by my compassion and the love I give.

Instead, judge me in revelation.

Judge me by my own confession.

Judge me by how I have fallen and was able to get back up again.

Do not harshly judge me, for in the end—by the blood of JESUS CHRIST—I Will Win!

I want to dedicate this poem to Everyone--May GOD Bless You and keep you strong through ALL the rough times that you may encounter. Because as we ALL know at some time or another someone may Judge you.

Essays

Another one of my specialties is essays. I have had a few of my essays published on various websites and blogs. I even had one published in the school literary magazine in 2012. The poem that has brought me the most attention is called:

Ambition

What is ambition? What does it mean to you? According to Dictionary.com ambition is an earnest desire for some type of achievement or distinction, as power, honor, fame, or wealth, and the willingness to strive for its attainment. Personally, I believe ambition is a strong desire for distinction and recognition of achievement; doing something that I will always be remembered for even after I leave this world and achieving it. Ambition is a desire or dream of something great in life and working hard to achieve it.

Most people have different ambitions in life; so, the word ambition would have a different meaning, depending on whom you ask. Some may want to become extremely wealthy; some may want to achieve great fame; some may want to be a powerful world leader; and some may want to earn tremendous honor. As for me I just want to achieve something that I will always be remembered for, even long after I am dead and gone. I long to be remembered as a strong,  honest, intelligent person, with a positive attitude,  who always did what I could to bring a smile to someone else’s face, giving them hope, courage, faith, and confidence to do and be their best in every situation.

“While one may encounter many defeats, one must not be defeated”

Birth of the fast-food craze in America

Have you ever wondered who began the fast-food craze in America? For any fan of fast-food, knowledge of how the fast-food craze began: and how it has managed to become a popular pastime, could serve as a valuable piece of information. After carefully and thoroughly researching the facts of several databases, I have discovered a lot about the fast-food industry.

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the term ‘Fast-Food’ was first used in 1951, and has the meaning of, relating to, or specializing in food that can be prepared and served quickly.

It came to my knowledge that most people believe that McDonald’s was the first fast-food chain in America. However, after carefully and thoroughly researching fast-food chains in America, I found that White Castle was actually the first fast-food chain to open in America.

White Castle limited-service restaurant which is considered the first hamburger chain in America, known for its unique steam-grilled hamburger patties, originated in 1916, in Wichita, Kanas, by J. Walter Anderson, and people loved the taste of the cheap burgers so much that Mr. Anderson and Billy Ingram started the first White Castle chain in 1921 for a mere $700 of borrowed money.

Makin' It Happen

As this week’s Makin’ It Happen author we have Jessie Snyder.

Most of Jessie’s childhood memories were not happy ones. Her family did not have a lot of money. In fact, she grew up in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Nashville, Tennessee. Her stepfather was a violent alcoholic, which caused the family to move around a lot until he was murdered during a home invasion when Jessie was 7.

During the attack, two men broke into Jessie’s family’s apartment, raped her mother, and shot her dad in the heart.

It was at this time that Jessie began to write. She would write about her feelings, using writing as a means to escape the pain and grief she was experiencing. And despite her hardships, Jessie knew she was very blessed.

Jessie was born with a spirit of encouragement and ambition, always giving inspiration and strength to those around her, largely through her writing, even in the mist of her toughest times.

When Jessie was 9, she won first place at a regional competition for an essay she wrote. And since then, she has been nurturing her talent and becoming an even stronger writer.

Jessie doesn’t write to become famous or wealthy or to win the Nobel Peace Prize—she writes because it is in her spirit.

Jessie has had a poem and an essay published through her college literary magazine. She has won two world poetry competitions. She has been named the “International Who’s Who in Poetry of 2012.” Plus, she has been on two Internet radio talk shows as well as a television talk show.

In July 2014, Jessie started her own writing company called DeLuxe Writing Experts and she published her first book through CreateSpace. Jessie is currently working on two more books, scheduled to be released by mid-summer of this year.
